RIZE Massachusetts Foundation Appoints Chief Advancement Officer and Associate Program Officer
BOSTON (May 13, 2025) – RIZE Massachusetts Foundation (RIZE), a nonprofit foundation solely dedicated to funding and creating solutions to end the overdose crisis in Massachusetts, today announced the appointments of Sara McMullen as chief advancement officer and Jamie Davis as associate program officer for community engagement.
“We are excited to welcome Sara and Jamie to the team as we expand and build upon our efforts to end the opioid crisis through community partnerships and evidence-based approaches,” said president and CEO of RIZE Massachusetts Foundation, Julie Burns. “Through these appointments, we are creating new capacity for scaling our work and demonstrating our impact.”
McMullen will play a pivotal role in developing and executing comprehensive strategies to increase sustainable philanthropic support, aligning all external communication and cultivating partnerships to advance RIZE’s mission of preventing overdose and increasing access to treatment in the Commonwealth. She will oversee fundraising efforts and manage marketing and communications initiatives across the organization.
Previously, McMullen was executive director at the American Cancer Society, utilizing her development expertise to bridge the gap between philanthropic dollars and efforts aimed at ending cancer for all populations. In over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, she has played an instrumental role in supporting critical health initiatives as director of development at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and in other health care organizations.
McMullen also led a successful capital campaign to provide equitable and inclusive maternal health care as Capital Campaign Director and Philanthropy Officer at Women & Infants Hospital. McMullen, a Hull resident, holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice from Central Connecticut State University.
Davis will support all of RIZE’s programs, managing innovative initiatives that strengthen community connections, increase access, promote knowledge sharing, and enhance coordination among community organizations and the addiction treatment workforce.
Previously, Davis was the community engagement and harm reduction program manager at Brandeis University’s Opioid Policy Research Collaborative, supporting the oversight and expansion of the Massachusetts Drug Supply Data Stream. As assistant director for rural harm reduction operations at Tapestry Health, Davis managed harm reduction programming in Hampshire and Franklin County. Davis was also the communications director at Tapestry Health, strategically planning, implementing and assessing the organization’s communications and marketing initiatives.
Davis, a North Brookfield resident, also serves on the Attorney General’s Advisory Council on Substance Use. They hold a bachelor’s degree from Westfield State University and an associate’s degree from Holyoke Community College.
